Terms of Service & Legal Notice

Matcha is a dating web application focused on profile discovery, interest signals/matches, chat, notifications, moderation, events planning, and account security. It includes a personal photo gallery (up to 5 photos, one public profile photo) and optional voice features between matched users (voice messages and live audio calls). It is not a marketplace and does not process payments.

You must be at least 18 years old to create and use an account. By registering, you confirm that this requirement is met.

• You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
• You must not share accounts or create multiple accounts.
• You must not use the service for any unlawful purpose.
• You must not attempt to abuse, disrupt, or overload the service.
• You are responsible for all actions performed from your account.

• Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, scam, or otherwise abuse other users.
• Do not publish unlawful, hateful, violent, sexual exploitation, or non-consensual content.
• Do not scrape, automate abusive traffic, reverse-engineer, or tamper with backend systems.
• Do not bypass rate limits, security controls, or moderation actions.

Your data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may export your data and request deletion, subject to security/legal constraints.

• You can view and revoke your active sessions from the settings page.
• IP addresses and user-agent strings are recorded in session and audit data for security purposes.
• Profile and moderation events are logged for abuse prevention and traceability.
• GPS location is processed only with your explicit consent. If refused, you must provide a manual city/location to use matching features.
• Geocoding may be performed server-side by OpenStreetMap Nominatim (reverse: GPS to city/area, forward: city/area to approximate map coordinates), with local fallback.
• Location visibility can be set to everyone, matches only, or nobody. Map audience controls follow this visibility rule.
• Realtime features are delivered through authenticated channels; disabling cookies/session access can break realtime updates.
• In non-production environments only, verification/reset links may be logged when SMTP delivery is unavailable (development fallback).

• Messages, notifications, and event updates are near-realtime and may have short delays depending on network conditions.
• Voice messages are available only between matched users and only when the browser/device supports recording playback formats.
• Live audio calls are available only between matched users, and call events (incoming/end) may be logged in chat/notifications.
• Event invitations and responses are limited to matched users. Event chat access depends on invitation acceptance and current group membership.
• Abuse of messages/events for spam, harassment, or evasion of moderation controls is prohibited.

• The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
• Uptime, reliability, or response times are not guaranteed.
• The operator may suspend or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of this service, including downtime or data loss.

The project branding, user interface, and code are provided for personal use only. Redistribution or commercial use is not permitted without written consent.

• The operator may temporarily or permanently restrict your account for violations, abuse, or any other reason, with or without prior notice.
• Users can report profiles as suspected fake accounts. Reports are reviewed by admins.
• Users can block other users; blocked users are hidden from suggestions/search and cannot interact.
• Restricted accounts can lose access to some or all features. Permanent restrictions can include email ban from future registration.
• Moderation decisions and related actions are logged for security and audit purposes.
• The operator may suspend or delete accounts at any time where necessary for safety or compliance.

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Belgium. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Belgium.
